The water resources managers in the Sacramento Valley have developed agricultural water management plans to guide important water management throughout the Sacramento Valley. Water is our lifeblood and no drop is wasted. These plans provide the framework for water management decisions on how to best provide water for farms, birds and fish in the region.

To illustrate this management, the water suppliers in the Sacramento Valley that are required to submit updated Agricultural Water Management Plans to the Department of Water Resources have all done so, with the exception of a group of water suppliers on the Feather River that have been working for the past year on a new regional Agricultural Water Management Plan that will be completed by the end of June 2014. Once that plan is submitted, the Sacramento Valley will be 100 percent compliant with the new Agricultural Water Management Plan requirements. Additionally, there are many water suppliers that have developed plans voluntarily.

The map below illustrates the level of compliance in the Sacramento Valley, including the plans voluntarily submitted by water agencies that are not subject to the regulation.
